For carbon dioxide removal’s (CDR) first pavilion presence at COP, we hosted an interactive virtual workshop to discuss:
"What will it take for CDR to be recognised and integrated as a mainstream climate mitigation tactic?"
Carbon removal is essential yet widely misunderstood, despite growing presence on climate agendas.
We explored barriers to widespread CDR adoption with audience participation through ranked choice polls and open questions like:
- What's your biggest question about CDR?
- What's the main challenge to mainstreaming CDR — standards, transparency, market knowledge, or price?
Together, we created a practical toolkit addressing barriers, use-cases, and implementation strategies.
Get a deeper understanding of CDR as a negative emission tool and how to create or ensure a de-risked and resilient CDR strategy.

Kathryn has a MSc in Climate Change from the University of Copenhagen specialising in climate policy and sustainability. She has experience in science communications and impact reporting, placing her expertise in between climate change and communications. A self-proclaimed geopolitics nerd, Kathryn uses this knowledge to track and brief our community on news and updates in and around the carbon removal space.
Eilis is Associate VP – Carbon Markets at Kita, the carbon insurance specialist. Kita’s purpose is accelerating investment into high quality carbon sequestration projects with insurance products that reduce transaction risk and safeguard the performance of carbon credit investments. At Kita, Eilis focuses on business development, carbon market engagement, and providing carbon market expertise internally. Prior to Kita, Eilis completed a Law Degree and Masters’ in Environmental Management for Business. She has also been named as Rising Star of the Year (SME) at the Women in Green Business Awards 2024.
Dominika is a Senior Marketing Specialist at Klimate with experience across SaaS, professional services, and climate tech. She specialises in B2B growth strategy, paid media, and event management. Alongside her marketing work, she has a long background in NGOs as a volunteer and activist, particularly in climate justice and migrant support.
