Varaha - Regenerative Agriculture in the Indo-Gangetic Plains
Before implementation of the project activity, farmers in the project followed conventional agricultural practices such as tillage, flooding, and burning of crop residues. This large scale project addresses the problems of these practices by implementing regenerative agriculture in rice and wheat cropping systems in the Indian states of Punjab and Haryana. Implementing the project's activities reduces green house gases, restores degraded farmlands, and increases the carbon sink through soil carbon removal.
