About project

OCO Technology has their own novel technology called the Accelerated Carbon Technology which permanently captures CO₂ by reacting it with alkaline industrial residues such as air pollution control residues (APCr). The process transforms waste into carbon negative product used in construction, effectively locking carbon into solid form for over 1,000 years while diverting material from landfill.

About supplier

O.C.O Technology is a UK-based climate tech company pioneering the commercial use of accelerated carbonisation. Their mission is to turn carbon and waste into resources by applying innovation to the circular economy. Through patented technology, they aim to create a scalable industrial solution for carbon capture and utilisation, contributing to a low-carbon built environment and a net-zero future.

Benefits of Project & Method

  • The project's process stores carbon for over 1,000+ years which uses waste materials to form limestone.
  • There are no air emission points, with the primary potential emissions being dust, which is controlled and monitored at the sites, and water vapour emitted as a result of process.
  • Part of the Real Living Wage Foundation, ensuring they pay their employees above the Government mandated living wage.
  • O.C.O rolled out HandsHQ to manage role-specific onboarding and refresher training, offering e-learning on manual handling, equality & diversity, mental health and driver awareness. Staff completed 4,249 training hours.
  • The project has been audited by 350Solutions.Inc and certified by Puro, an ICROA endorsed registry.
  • Offers ex-post credits, which means that the carbon has already been removed, which reduces the risk of the project.
  • The project invest heavily into research and development collaborating with multiple companies.
  • Has ISO 14001, ISO 9001 and ISO 45001 certificattion and is one of only a few companies in the UK to hold Environment Agency ‘End of Waste’ approval, classifying the finished aggregate as a ‘product’.
  • OCO has strong policies in place to ensure high standards across their supply chain and operations.
