Fetzer Rohstoffe, located in Eislingen, Germany, is primarily a waste collection company which has been turning wood waste into high-quality biochar for over a decade. They earned their EBC certification in 2013, establishing themselves as pioneers in Germany's biochar industry. The biochar they produce is primarily used as a soil amendment, or a component added to improve the soil and plant health.

- They have two pyrolysis plants and produce around 1 million kWh equivalent of heat energy and around 1,500 m3 of high-quality biochar per year.
- They are a part of German-founded Biochar Association, which acts as a partner for science and practice for technical plant developers and political decision-makers. They develop binding quality standards for biochar production and the biomass used.
- The process uses forest wood chips that are subjected to a continuous pyrolysis process at approx. 650 - 700 °C to produce high quality biochar.
- Biochar improves plant health, soil fertility and reduces fertiliser use.
- It increases water infiltration and retention, reducing runoff and improves the water-holding capacity, making crops more resilient to drought conditions.
