The Maharashtra Model utilizes waste from cashew nut residues to generate green energy, bio-oil and biochar. The project also tackles the issue of rising air pollution in India, as farmers and industries are burning waste residues from agriculture. Among the co-benefits from the use of biochar are water and nutrient retention and increase of crop yield.
