Bioenergie Frauenfeld is a joint venture of Energie 360° and Schweizer Zucker. The aim of the project is to create a more climate conscious power plant, which has been operating at full-scale since May 2022.Regional residual wood biomass is converted into biochar. This biochar is then used in agriculture and in the construction industry.

Biochar is a charcoal-looking, carbon-rich substance that is produced when organic materials are subjected to a process called pyrolysis. Industrial biochar utilises modern engineering to efficiently produce high-quality biochar in large quantities, offering a scalable and impactful approach to climate change mitigation.
